Osasco-SP, Brazil | May 5, 2026
The city of Osasco (in São Paulo state, Brazil) hosted the II National Meeting of Inclusive Cities for Sustainable Families on May 5. The event brought together public administrators, legal experts, academics, and civil society representatives around four themed panels: parenting and violence prevention, longevity and accessibility, health and well-being, and work and child protection. It also featured the launch of a guide on supporting parenting in cities.
Participants included Marcelo Couto (Osasco Family Secretariat), Christiana Renault (First Lady of Minas Gerais), Alex Vázquez (International Federation for Family Development), Rogerio Santos (state representative), and Ângela Gandra (São Paulo Secretariat of International Relations), along with the Family Talks team.
The international network of cities adhering to the Venice Declaration is promoted in Brazil by Family Talks. Cities and regions already part of the project include São Paulo, Mogi das Cruzes, Osasco, Barueri, Jundiaí, São Carlos, and the states of Paraná and Minas Gerais. Benefits of participation include international visibility for the cities at an annual event at UN headquarters in New York, as well as access to training and technical groups for developing family-focused public policies.
