The free guide “Fortalecendo as Famílias: Experiência de Osasco (SP)” (“Strengthening Families: The Osasco Experience”), launched by Family Talks in partnership with the Secretaria da Família de Osasco to help Brazilian municipalities implement parenting-support programs. The document consolidates a technical partnership that systematized and analyzed the implementation of parenting-support programs in the São Paulo city, and is now being offered free of charge so public managers across the country can replicate the initiative in their own regions. Functioning as a step-by-step manual for evidence-based public policy, the guide covers selecting programs (such as the “Famílias Fortes” and “ACT” methodologies), practical implementation (whether directly through city government or via partnerships), management and costs, and impact evaluation.
The underlying argument is that by investing in parenting skills and strengthening family bonds, government can help prevent various social problems and promote a safer, healthier environment for children and adolescents—with the hope.
