Rocío Ramos, youth representative speaking on behalf of the International Federation for Family Development, addressed the Commission to emphasize the need to place families at the center of the intersection between population dynamics, technological change, and sustainable development.

She highlighted that current demographic shifts, rapid technological transformation, and growing care demands are reshaping how families live, work, and age. Recalling the ICPD Programme of Action, she stressed that policies are most effective when they reflect the realities of family life, where these changes are directly experienced.

Her intervention underlined that families are not just beneficiaries, but key environments where digital skills are developed, care is provided, and intergenerational support takes place. She also drew attention to an often-overlooked issue: digital divides within households, where gaps between generations affect education, employment, access to services, and safe online participation.

Rocío Ramos called for integrating a family perspective into population and technology strategies, investing in intergenerational digital literacy, strengthening safe online environments at the household level, and expanding research on intrafamily digital dynamics.

She concluded that combining technological innovation with strong family support systems is essential to address demographic change and ensure that no one is left behind.
