Meetings of Mayors and Municipalities
Forum of Family-Sustainable Cities
Mexico City, 26-27 August 2021
The first Forum of Family-Sustainable Cities was held in Mexico City with the participation of 27 mayors from different municipalities, interested in public policies related to SDG 11, as proposed by IFFD in the Inclusive Cities for Sustainable Families project.
Participants included Cuauhtémoc (Ciudad de México), Huixquilucan (Estado de México), San Nicolás de los Garza (Nuevo León), Irapuato (Guanajuato), Chapultepec (Estado de México), Guadalupe (Zacatecas), Iguala (Guerrero), San Mateo Atenco (Estado de México), Zapopan (Jalisco), Allende (Nuevo León), Valle de Santiago (Guanajuato), San Francisco del Rincon (Guanajuato), Chihuahua (Chihuahua), San Antonio la Isla (Estado de México), Tuxtla Gutiérrez (Chiapas), Hermosillo (Sonora), Los Reyes La Paz (Estado de México), Chapultepec (Estado de México), Benito Juárez (Ciudad de México), Veracruz (Veracruz), Puebla (Puebla), Querétaro (Querétaro), Cancún (Quintana Roo), Toluca (Estado de México), Amecameca (Estado de México), Manuel Doblado (Guanajuato) and Apaseo el Grande (Guanajuato).
They came from different political parties, sizes and geographical backgrounds gathered to discuss the consideration of families as private and public goods, the link between families and municipalities with sustainable development and emerging issues for families in Mexico.
During the final session, 18 mayors signed the Venice Declaration to be the first ones to access the project in Mexico.
