Louis Benoist delivering an official intervention on behalf of the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD)
The statement is presented by a student from IPC Institute (Paris) participating in an international internship programme supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, and carried out within and thanks to IFFD’s institutional presence at the United Nations.
Reflecting on the journey from Copenhagen to Doha, the intervention highlights the essential role of families as the foundation of social development, dignity, and social cohesion. Drawing on IFFD’s work in 68 countries across five continents, the speech emphasizes how family-centered policies are key to eradicating poverty and breaking intergenerational cycles of vulnerability.
The video also references IFFD’s contributions at the Doha Summit, including solution sessions on family policies, care systems, and family-friendly workplaces, as well as a follow-up side event during the Commission.
Throughout the intervention, IFFD’s role as a UN-recognized organization is central—demonstrating how its consultative status enables young researchers and practitioners, through programmes like Erasmus+, to actively contribute to international policy dialogue and measurable social outcomes by 2030 and beyond.
