On June 7, the city of São Paulo hosted the 1st National Meeting of Inclusive Cities for Sustainable Families, held as part of the Virada ODS (SDG Turnaround) program. The opening was led by Gilberto Jabur, President of Family Talks, and was attended by national and international authorities. The event, promoted by the São Paulo City Government in partnership with Family Talks and the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD), marked a strategic milestone in strengthening the Inclusive Cities for Sustainable Families (CIFS) network in Brazil. It also reinforced dialogue on family-centered urban public policies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 11.

Throughout the day, experts and policymakers discussed topics including the Venice Declaration as a foundation for urban policies, the challenges of family and child protection, housing in vulnerable areas, food security, and parenting support. Participants advocated for an integrated approach to sustainable urban development, with a focus on equity and the centrality of the family as the core of public policy. The event highlighted the importance of living urban geometry and urban harmony to foster cities that are more welcoming, safe, and resilient for all.
