The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is the main United Nations platform on sustainable development. It plays a central role in the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the global level.
Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) are a key component of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development. They are presented by United Nations member states to assess and share progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year, the following countries have presented some policies featuring their family perspective:
Austria. Austria’s report focuses on the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic, and social. For instance, Social Cohesion and Solidarity supports vulnerable groups through a robust welfare system, aiming to ensure no one is left behind. Programs like “Frühe Hilfen” and “Schulstartklar!” assist families, children, and youth. Long-term Care: Two reform packages and the “Community Nursing” initiative address the growing demand for long-term care.
Brazil. The country has revamped its conditions for sustainable development across social, economic, and environmental pillars. The re-founded Bolsa Família Program enhances income transfers. Employment recovery boosts purchasing power and stimulates economic growth by reducing inflation.
Colombia. Policies focus on strengthening family agriculture, supporting agroecological production, and ensuring food security. These measures aim to mitigate food insecurity through sociocultural dynamics and public policies.
Mexico. Initiatives improve agricultural productivity, conserve ecosystems, enrich food environments, and enhance health and economic sovereignty. Programs also support youth integration into the workforce and education, promoting economic security for families and boosting national economic and mental health.
