The second Forum of Mexican Family-Sustainable Cities was held in Chihuahua with the participation of around 200 authorities and civil society representatives, including mayors and other delegates from 27 municipalities, most of them signatories of the Venice Declaration.
They came from different political parties, sizes and geographical backgrounds in Mexico, and discussed good practices in implementing their participation in the Inclusive Cities for Sustainable Families project project during the past months, a year after the first Forum and initial accessions.
The meeting was also attended by some international and Mexican authorities related to the project, such as Roberto Ciambetti, president of the Regional Council of Veneto in Italy, and Antonio Franzina; Piotr Calbecki, governor of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region in Poland, Jacek Gajewski, Grzegorz Borek, Adam Szponka and Mieszko Matusiak; Renata Kaczmarska, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs focal point on the family; Senator Nancy de la Sierra, president of the Foreign Relations Commission at the Mexican Senate of the Republic, and some members of the federal and regional parliament; Ignacio Socias, director of International Relations at IFFD; Juan Antonio Lopez Baljarg, director general at the Institute for Family Policy Analysis in Mexico. They took part in an initial international panel on family policies in the context of SDG 11 and the Venice Declaration.
It was hosted by the municipality of the capital city of Chihuahua and its mayor, Marco Bonilla, with the partnership of the Institute for Family Policy Analysis and IFFD.
