Some parents breeze through the transition of children leaving home by embracing their new freedom and independence. Other struggle a great deal with the change, missing their role as caretakers and the activity that comes with having teenagers and their friends around the house. Many fall somewhere in between, feeling a mix of emotions when their offspring fly off to begin their adult lives.
