The United Nations (UN) has called attention to the “widespread reports of inadequacies and abuse” in Australian care systems and has complained of the inadequate screening, training, support and assessment of carers. It has also complained of the inappropriate placements of children, and the mental health issues that are “exacerbated by (or caused in) care”.
