The statistics are startling: more than 100,000 children in foster care in the US who wait an average of four years to be adopted; more than 23,000 who ‘age out’ of the system annually with no family or permanent home. It doesn’t stop there: thousands of women with unplanned pregnancies who are willing to have the baby and offer the child for adoption; plus, of course, children in orphanages overseas who are available.
