The expats at the party speak not only English and a little German, but also another language: Tech. Talking to screens or talking to each other—it’s just another day in the life of an expat in the 21st century. But for the parents of many expats back home, especially those who must go from “what’s a web browser again?” to Skype user in one training visit, the technology their children want to connect with isn’t natural to them and this can put a strain on their long-distance relationships.
