Are elderly care costs a family responsibility?

With the number of Americans age 65 and older projected to nearly double by 2050, Pew Research Center compares American beliefs to those in Italy and Germany — where one-fifth of the populations are already 65 and older — and finds that Germans and Italians are twice as likely as Americans to say the government should bear the greatest responsibility for people’s economic well-being in their old age.
