“A growing number of highly-educated women in urban India are abandoning their professional lives to become full-time mothers as raising children while maintaining a serious career becomes complex,” the survey by Assocham said. The Social Development Foundation of Assocham interacted with some 400 new moms, in the age group of 25-30, in 10 cities of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai to know their employment decisions post-motherhood.
