More than 20% of US children are defined as being below the poverty line. But because they are defined as being below the poverty line they get certain aid. And these aids being the family income up to above the poverty line to the extent that there’s only 2 or 3% of American children actually “living” below the poverty line. Which is pretty good actually, about as good a performance as any country manages.
