Week of Meetings on Family Issues in Ecuador
During the second week on December 2017, the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD) co-organized with the Instituto de Matrimonio y Familia (the local member of IFFD in Ecuador) a series of events on family issues in Quito and Guayaquil. The main goal of all of them was to raise awareness on the relevance of the Sustainable Development Agenda for the future of the country and they were successfully managed by Maria del Pilar Azanza.

With lawmakers
An audience at the National Assembly with Ignacio Socias was organized on 12th December by the Commission of Justice and State structure, to discuss different aspects of the future reformed Code of the Child. Also, two other events with another members of political parties represented in parliament were held during those days, one of them organized by the Instituto de Matrimonio y Familia, to debate about different aspects of public family policies and the situation of families in the country.
Ignacio Socias and José Alejandro Vázquez also met with the undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Development and Housing, the deputy mayor of Guayaquil, the president of the Unidad Patronato Municipal San José, and the directors of social inclusion in both municipalities.

With academics, members of school boards and think tanks
The director of international relations of IFFD addressed a group of academics on 11th December at the Universidad de los Hemisferios, and the board members of the schools integrated in Corporación Ecuatoriana para la Calidad de la Educación at the UEES on 15th December.
He also had the chance to participate with the permanent representative of IFFD at the UN on events organized by several think tanks and political movements, as the one held at the headquarters of Fundación Ecuador Libre on 16th December.

With businessmen
Two events for businessmen took place at both campuses of the IDE Business School, in Quito (12th December) and Guayaquil (14th December), both on “The Role of the Family in Corporate Social Responsibility”.

With parents, families and civil society representatives
Eight different meetings with parents and families were also organized in the two cities by family and educational organizations. Ignacio Socias and José Alejandro Vázquez also had separated meetings with the boards of Instituto de Matrimonio y Familia.

With high-school students
José Alejandro Vázquez, permanent representative of IFFD at the United Nations, gave some sessions on the UN system to students who participate in the academic project Idea Model of United Nations (IMUN).
